HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - Even with tri-captain Chelsea Winegar out with an injury and promising sophomore Kristen Hodges out with an illness, the Ridge girls volleyball team managed to escape Hillsborough with a tough two-set win, 25-17, 25-21.
Coach Joanne Milot stuck with a core seven and all of them contributed in a big way. Senior Isabela Garcia, starting her first game as a middle blocker, had an all around game with four kills and five blocks. Lefty swinging Jasmine Davy also had four kills hitting from the right side, Angela Pan chipped in with two kills while senior captains Peyton Robb had 11 kills and eight digs and libero Rachel Tam had 11 digs.
First-year starter junior Dana Collins ran the offense and had a big game, dishing out 24 assists. Last but not least, sophomore outside hitter Lauren Metzner had three kills, nine digs and most importantly served out the last six points in the second set when Ridge was down ,19-21.
Ridge looks to win its first match at home in 2018 when the Red Devils face Bridgewater-Raritan on Thursday.
