SOMERSET, NJ -- The Ridge ice hockey team defeated Watchung Hills, 8-0, Saturday night at ProTec Ponds for the 400th victory in head coach Tim Mullin's career.
Nick DelGaizo and Eric Helgeson scored two goals apiece for the Red Devils (10-1-3), who scored three goals in each of the first two periods. Other goals came from Grant Loges, Zach Alvin, Tommy Vitolo and Sean Leach.
Ebeling, Judson and DelGaizo each finished with two assists. In goal, Jack Richter made 13 saves and Marcus Fabiunke had eight saves as they combined on the shutout for the Red Devils.
Mullin is in his 26th season as the Ridge head coach. Ridge has won three state championships under Mullin, including one in 2019.
Mullin graduated from Newark College of Engineering (now known as NJIT), where he was captain of the ice hockey team. After graduation, Mullin played for the Newark Brewers and the New Jersey Rockets at a time when those teams were considered semi-pro. Before coming to Ridge, Mullin coached for the NJ Devils, Montclair Blues and Bridgewater Bears youth hockey teams, as well as the Ironbound Youth Hockey Association.
