LIVINGSTON, NJ -- Junior Allen Marakov of Ridge went 6-1 in the final pool of eight fencers and improved on a seventh place epee finish last year to capture the title this year at the State Individual Weapon Championships at Livingston High School on Sunday, March 1.  

The top four fencers for each weapon from their respective district qualified for the tournament. This full day event takes the fencers through three rounds of pools, making cuts after each pool to a final round of eight fencers.

On the girls’ side in foil, senior Liz Yugov of Ridge finished in third place and sophomore Madison Clowes finished 15th. Senior Diya Kulkarni tied for the bronze medal in epee and Andrea Tirado was 17th in sabre.

The boys’ team saw junior Casper Mika finish third in sabre. Senior Clark Kokenge and sophomore Eric Wang placed fifth and 13th in epee, respectively.
