Bayonne Bridge to Close This Weekend

BAYONNE, NJ – The Bayonne Bridge will close from 9 p.m. Friday, April 15 through 8 a.m. Sunday, April 17 to accommodate ongoing construction work for the “Raise the Roadway” project.

Next week, the bridge will remain open from 5 a.m. Friday, April 22 through 11:59 p.m. Saturday, April 23, for the celebration of Passover.

When the project is completed, residents of Bayonne, Staten Island and elsewhere will benefit from the roadway’s wider 12-foot lanes, a median divider and shoulders, and a wider, full-length shared walkway and bikeway.

Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis today announced the sale of approximately 30 acres of the former Military Ocean Terminal (“MOTBY”) to Atlantic Realty of Woodbridge. Atlantic Realty was designated the developer in 2006 under Mayor Doria. The plan calls for construction of 525 residential units, park space, new roads and addition to the Hudson River Walkway.
