BAYONNE, NJ – The Bayonne Bridge will close this weekend due to ongoing construction, the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey announced.

The bridge will close from 11:59 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 until 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 to accommodate work for the Bayonne Bridge Navigational Clearance project, which will raise the span’s roadway 64 feet to allow taller ships to pass underneath it.

The closing was scheduled in conjunction with other regional agencies to minimize traffic impacts, a Port Authority spokesman said.

To receive real-time traffic updates, motorists should register for Bridge Alerts by calling 511 or visiting www.511NJ.org.
