BAYONNE, NJ – A small fire in a closed attic space over the Bayonne Diner entrance was quickly put out and controlled by the Bayonne Fire Department on Thursday, May 12.

Firefighters were dispatched to the diner at 1075 Broadway just before 6:30 p.m.

There was no spread of the fire into the building or onto the roof area. As a result, the damage to the building was limited.

The building was evacuated during the incident. No injuries were reported.

An investigation determined that the fire was caused by an electrical failure in the wiring of a light fixture, according to Weaver.

The department cleared the scene at 7:15 p.m.
