Bayonne Duo Charged with Stealing Chips Off Delivery Truck, Police Say

BAYONNE, NJ – Two local men were charged with receiving stolen property after a   food distribution supervisor caught them with bins of snack food, police said.

Marvin Powell, 56, and Mack Brinson, 52, were caught by the local Frito Lay manager behind the Quick Chek on East 53rd Street at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police said a Frito Lay delivery driver notified his manager that product was stolen from the back of the unlocked truck while the driver was inside the store at 5:30 a.m.

The manager reported to the store later in the morning to speak with store management, police said. When he arrived, the manager noticed Powell and Brinson behind the store with several Frito Lay bins.

After police were called, the two suspects were arrested and charged with possessing the stolen property. Powell was also charged with possession of heroine, and a hypodermic syringe, as well as hindering apprehension after he gave police a false name, according to the police press release.

Brinson was issued a summons, while Powell was taken to Hudson County Jail.
