BAYONNE, NJ – The Bayonne Farmer’s Market is back with a new location and easier parking – each Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m.
In its fifth season, the market has moved to Fitzpatrick Park, on Avenue C between 26th and 27th streets, across from Bayonne City Hall.
Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone Coordinator Terrence Malloy said the new site is in a more obvious place than previous locations on Del Monte Drive and Church Lane.
“We have greater visibility,” Malloy said. “A lot of pedestrian traffic goes by the new site.”
Mayor James Davis agreed, saying, “The new City Hall site provides a central location for Bayonne shoppers.”
Farmers’ Market Coordinator Lauren Halecky Dellabella said that the new site adds another new dimension as well.
“It’s sort of a family atmosphere with the park here,” she said.
Dellabella said two encouraging signs were that the market has a steadier flow of customers all day long and that she is seeing a lot of new faces.
Participants this year include both new and returning Farmers’ Market businesses.
Vendors include Baker’s Bounty, Dr. Pickle, The Empanada Lady, Gourmet Fruits and Nuts, High Mountain Foods, Just Delicious Kettle Corn, Lizzmonade, Mike’s Bagel Chips, NaturalVert Organic Gluten-Free Granola, Ort Farms, Outer Limits Hot Sauce and Paolo’s Kitchen.
NaturalVert Granola is one of the new businesses. Baker’s Bounty is one that returned following the selection of the new location. Just Delicious Kettle Corn has reported increased sales this year over previous years.
Parking has been made easier compared to former farmers’ market sites. Spaces on Avenue C between 26th and 27th streets are tagged for market-only parking. So a quick pull over and departure are available for shoppers.
Davis, Malloy and Dellabella invite all to attend the local market.
“The Bayonne Farmers’ Market has become a popular feature of our community,” Davis said.
The market will continue through Oct. 25.
