BAYONNE, NJ – In just its second year competing in national competitions, the Bayonne High School Model UN team is already taking home awards.
Led by social studies teacher Evan Wexler, the 32 model UN students took home second place and the “Award of Excellence” at last weekend’s National High School Model UN Conference in New York City.
Individually, students Tatyana Aponte, Ashley Caleb, Jared Chimento, Jassie Morcos, Stephanie Peters and Katelyn Seecharan, received Best Delegate awards for their efforts.
According to Dan Ward, Bayonne’s Director of Social Studies and Education Media Services, event organizers said Bayonne had “the best showing of a second year participant since 1996.
Ward said: “The entire Social Studies Department is thrilled with our students' success and would like to thank Mr. Wexler for his amazing leadership.”
The NHSMUN attracts more than 5,000 students from 75 countries.
