BAYONNE, NJ- Nearly a dozen people were rescued from their cars by firefighters around Bayonne on Tuesday after several inches of rain fell across the city.

“If you see barricades or cones, do not drive around them, as they are placed for your safety,” a post on the city’s Office of Emergency Management Facebook page read.

With additional rainfall expected later on Tuesday, and into Wednesday, emergency officials have advised residents to stay out of harm’s way by not attempting to travel through flooded streets.
