BAYONNE, NJ - Efforts of the Davis Administration to insure an accurate count of Bayonne’s population are continuing Tuesday with a U.S. Census Bureau job fair at the Bayonne Public Library.

The event will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Art and Music Room of the library located at 31st Street and Avenue C.

“Getting a complete count for Bayonne’s population for 2020 is vitally important,” Davis said previously. “Many federal and state aid program for cities are based on population size.

Job seekers will be able to learn about and apply for both office and field positions for the once a decade effort and can indicate their preference for morning, afternoon, evening, or weekend work.

Successful applicants will receive paid training and be paid weekly by the Census Bureau.

Canvassing for Census 2020 will begin in August, 2019 with workers checking the existence of various address in order to prepare for next year’s population count.

Thanking the Census Bureau for giving local residents to apply for the position Davis urged local applicants to step forward saying that “hiring people with knowledge of local neighborhoods and streets will be very important for a successful population count.”
