BAYONNE, NJ - Bayonne residents and businesses are invited to support the Bayonne Public Schools’ 4th Annual Field of Heroes ceremony set for Veterans Day, Monday, November 11. The special event to honor the men and women from Bayonne that have served the nation in the United States Military will be held at Bayonne High School at 11:00 a.m.
As has become tradition, school officials and students will line the front of Bayonne High School with Americans flags. These flags can be purchased and placed in honor of a hero for just $5. All proceeds from the sale of flags will be presented to the Joyce Herbert V.F.W. Post 226 Veterans Museum.
In addition, the Field of Heroes committee is also seeking nominees to receive special recognition at the event. Nominees, according to a letter from Acting Superintendent Kenneth Kopacz, should “represent honorable service to the county; as well as, out local community.” Nominees can be either current or past residents of Bayonne.
Those submitting nomination should include the name, branch of service, rank, and a short biography detailing the service of the veteran to the nation and to Bayonne, and should also add a brief statement as to what they deserve the individual deserves special designation at the ceremony.
All nominations should be sent to the attention of Dr. Dennis Degnan, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, at Bayonne High School, 669 Avenue A, Bayonne, New Jersey, 07002. Nomination must be received no later than September 6.
