BAYONNE, NJ – A local teacher attended a week-long Gettysburg seminar at the national landmark in central Pennsylvania.
Lawrence Sangi, a social studies teacher at Bayonne High School, represented the district at Gettysburg College for a seminar called: Gettysburg: History & Memory.
Teachers from around the United States and the world toured the historic battlefield, created lesson plans and listened to lectures by renowned scholars, according to Dan Ward, Bayonne’s Director of Social Studies & Education Media Services.
Prior to the seminar, Sangi, who specializes in the history of the American Civil War, participated in a 155th Encampment reenactment at the Gettysburg National Military Park.
The seminar was sponsored by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
