Four Social Studies teachers from the Bayonne Board of Education, Ms. Stephanie Fleck, Mr. Jim Coe, Mrs. Lisa Kawalek and Mr. Lawrence Sangi, are currently in Colonial Williamsburg in Williamsburg, Virgina after being accepted into the prestigious Teacher Institute. All teachers will spend a six days in an in-depth and interdisciplinary study of early American history as they interact with historians, meet character interpreters, examine primary sources, explore interactive teaching materials and visit places such as Jamestown and Richmond, Virginia as they seek to learn how to bring history alive for their students. Colleagues, Mrs. Heather Arlett Doherty and Ms. Giselle Torres, will be attending the Institute next week.
