Bayonne Teen Robbed of Cell Phone on 45th and Avenue E


BAYONNE, N.J. – A local teenager had his cellphone stolen on 45th Street and Avenue E on Monday.

At approximately 6:38 p.m., a 17-year-old boy reported that an unknown man approached him from behind and demanded his cell phone. According to police reports, the boy said he saw the assailant reach into the front of his pants, leading him to think the man had a handgun.

After obtaining the phone, the victim reported that he chased the man south on Avenue E. During the pursuit, a passing motorist stopped to help the boy, however, the man fled west on East 38th Street.

The Bayonne Police Department is investigative the incident.
