SPARTA, NJ – A Bayonne woman is facing drug charges after being stopped by Sparta police for allegedly making an improper lane change on Wednesday. According to a statement by the Sparta Police Department the incident took place at appriximately 10:00 a.m. after the driver exited Route 15 onto Woodport Road. 

Officer Taylor May pulled over Amirah Hafez, 23 on Pinecone Lane after she exited Route 15 onto Woodport Road, police said.

The report continued that when Officer Taylor May pulled Amirah Hafez, 23, he smelled marijuana in the car.  When asked about the smell, Hafez admitted to having marijuana and gave a bag of marijuana to May, police said.

Hafez was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing.  She was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and unsafe lane change. She was given a court date and released.
