Bridge to be open this weekend for Passover


BAYONNE, NJ – The Bayonne Bridge will remain open from 5 a.m. Friday, April 22 through 9 a.m. Monday, April 25 for the observance of Passover, the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey announced. 

The bridge will close again next week as work continues on the Bayonne Bridge Navigational Clearance Project.

Monday through Friday the bridge will again close during the day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, the bridge will continue with overnight closures from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

On certain weekdays, the Bayonne Bridge may open a half hour earlier to provide an alternate route for drivers affected by 4:30 to 5 a.m. traffic holds on the Goethals Bridge.

Also known as the “Raise the Roadway” project, the Bayonne Bridge construction is expected to be completed in mid-2019.
