BAYONNE, NJ- City officials have announced that demolition crews will implode the 175-foot smokestack and 150-foot steel water tower currently located on a site at the former Military Ocean Terminal at Bayonne (MOTBY) at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Friday.

The 153-acre waterfront site that has sat dormant for over a decade is being cleared to make way for the 1.6 million square feet of “next generation” industrial and e-commerce warehouse space being constructed by Lincoln Equities Group. Construction is expected to take two years and eventually provide new waterfront facilities to increase trade in the Port of New York and New Jersey and generate 2,700 jobs.

Residents are advised that for safety reasons there are no public viewing areas of the implosion.
