BAYONNE, NJ - Bayonne residents are invited to honor the men and women that lost their lives in service to the United States Military at the city’s annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday.
A special pre-parade ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the march starting at 10:30 a.m.
Edith Ferrell will lead the parade from 5th Street and Broadway heading north on Broadway before coming to an end at 32nd Street.
Prior to being selected to serve as this year’s Grand Marshal Ferrell has long been active on veterans and civic affairs in the city including as Auxiliary President of VFW Post #7470 for the past 10 years. During her tenure Ferrell has arranged numerous activities for the disabled, lunches for seniors, and assisted citizens with various celebrations and memorials.
Ferrell is a past member of the Bayonne Board of Education; a past Board President of the Bayonne Community Daycare Nursery where she currently serves as a board member; a member of the Bayonne Branch of the NAACP; a member of the Jersey City Black Caucus; Vice Chairperson of the City of Bayonne Housing Authority; and a Committee Member of the Bayonne City Democratic Organization.
