BAYONNE, NJ - Seeking to avoid some of the issues that plagued the 2018 school board election, namely reversing course on the appointment of a declared winner, only to find his vote totals didn’t merit the win, Hudson County election officials have yet to certify, and therefore make official, the results of Tuesday’s election for Bayonne Board of Education.

With 2,030 votes Incumbent Denis Wilbeck is leading the pack of 14 candidates. Four other contenders are within a few votes each other with Lisa Burke at 1,786 votes, Jan Egan at 1,789 votes, Charles Ryan at 1,717votes, and Carol Cruden at 1,674 votes.

Election officials told TAPinto Bayonne that they will not certify the election until Friday when all of the provisional ballots are counted.
