BAYONNE, NJ – The Bayonne Education Foundation (BEF) will present Bayonne High School Principal Richard Baccarella with its 2016 Lifetime Achievement in Education Award when it fetes him on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Bayonne Community Museum.
Baccarella will be honored at the foundation’s annual “Welcome Back to School Celebration” at the museum, 229 Broadway, the corner of 9th Street.
A lifelong city resident and a Bayonne High School graduate, Baccarella has served Bayonne students for 43 years. As principal for the last 15 years, he has led the BHS faculty, staff and the school’s more than 2,500 students.
“He is an exceptional leader, demonstrating excellence and inspiring others to perform at their best,” said BEF President John Rodrigues. “I am pleased the foundation will honor Principal Baccarella.”
Before leading the high school, Baccarella was Washington Community School principal. Prior to that, he was assistant principal of BHS’ Houses 3 and 4. Previously, he had been the Pre-Vocational High School coordinator.
Baccarella began his career in physical education, teaching at Walter F. Robinson, Philip G. Vroom, Roosevelt, Washington Community and Midtown Community schools.
Tickets to the event are $55 per person and include a buffet dinner catered by Cafe Bello, beer, wine, soda, coffee and desserts. The evening will feature entertainment provided by the BHS Guitar Ensemble, raffles and door prizes.
Proceeds will go toward foundation initiatives for the current school year. The BEF is a charitable non-profit organization, providing academic enrichment services and support to Bayonne students.
