BAYONNE, NJ - A game of pool turned violent Friday night, a statement from Lt. Eric Amato said.
According to the report, a 27-year-old male victim said that while playing pool with a group of individuals at the Refinery Tavern he became involved in an argument with one of the other players.
The suspect struck the victim numerous times in the head and face with a closed fist, causing serious bodily injury to his mouth, and a trip to the Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. A 43-year-old witness who attempted to step in and stop the assault was also punched by the suspect but refused medical attention.
After the assault the suspect fled the scene.
