BAYONNE, NJ - A 42-year-old Jersey City man faces gun charges after his Friday arrest in Bayonne.

According to Lt. Eric Amato, members of the Bayonne Police Department reported to the Broadway Diner in the early hours of Friday on a report of a male threatening a patron with a handgun. While no one in the diner corroborated the call once the police arrived law enforcement officials were able to broadcast a description of the suspect and his vehicle.

A short time later, according to the report, police located Corey Jenkins, 42, is his vehicle at the Shell gas station on Avenue E. While conducting an on-scene investigation, the report said, officers observed a fully loaded Glock 9mm handgun equipped with a large capacity magazine on the floor in front of the driver seat. While the gun has not been reported stolen Jenkins was determined to be “a certain person to not possess a weapon.”
