BAYONNE, NJ - Approximately 100 children braved the cold and blustery morning on Saturday, March 26 at Gorman Field in Bayonne when they took part in the Easter Egg Race and Bunny Hop sponsored by the city’s Recreation Department.

Participants balanced an egg on their spoons while trying to outrun their opponents to the finish line in the various races.

There were three prizes (first, second, and third places) in four age groups, for a total of 12 prizes awarded to children, according to Peter Amadeo, Bayonne’s director of recreation.

"The Easter Egg Race is exciting every year,” Amadeo said. “Seeing the smiles on the children's faces racing really makes the event enjoyable and rewarding."

The races and a visit from the Easter Bunny lasted about an hour.

Council President Sharon Nadrowski represented the city administration at the event.
