BAYONNE, NJ - A 41-year-old New York man was arrested Saturday after he was involved in a fight in the area of 21st Street and Broadway.
According to Captain Eric Amato, members of the Bayonne Police Department responded to the scent at approximately 9:00 a.m. on the report of a fight involving a knife. Upon arrival, the fight had already ended and both parties were separated. Responding officers observed a male, later identified as Amir M. Fam, holding a sharp object in his hand which he dropped after officers commanded him to. The object was determined to be a long silver nail.
An on-scene investigation determined that Fam approached the 61-year-old male victim as he was about to enter a store in the area, and, unprovoked, began yelling at and attacking the victim while swinging the nail at him. The suspect never made contact with the victim and no injuries were reported.
During the arrest process it was learned that Fam was wanted on two outstanding warrants, one out of Bayonne and one out of Point Pleasant.
