BAYONNE, NJ - A new parent APP and messaging system is coming to the Bayonne School District this Fall.

The new APP is intended to be an extension of the currently used parent portal, according to the district's website.

Parents will be able to set notification alerts for new grades, special messages, such as inclement weather and quick access to the portal, the website said. The district tested the APP at two schools this year, and said it is ready for a district-wide roll-out.

Additionally, a new text message system is being implemented in conjunction with the current phone and email system used for special alerts.

"Communication with our district parents is incredibly important," the post said. "In addition to emails and recorded phone calls, we will be introducing the text message option for parents who wish to participate. This will be used for weather alerts, school closings, and other emergency messages that may need to be sent out."

More information on the APP and text message system will be available later in the summer and early Fall.
