BAYONNE, NJ - A 34-year-old Jersey woman ended up in Hudson County Jail Sunday after a Bayonne police officer observed her strike a pedestrian on a motorized shopping cart twice, dragging her almost 10 feet, and then slamming head on into the police car.

According to Lt Eric Amato, the incident began just before 4:00 p.m. when the woman, identified as Siedah Smith, is said to have left Wal Mart with $235.73 worth of merchandise that she had not paid for. A loss prevention agent at Wal Mart reported that the suspect had filled the cart with the items, left it in the self-checkout lane, and then exited the store where she retrieved a receipt from the garbage that she tried to pass off as her own with the merchandise.

While attempting to flee in her vehicle the suspect struck the pedestrian who was later transported to Bayonne Medical Center for treatment.
