Police: Bayonne Man Arrested for Robbery, Possession

BAYONNE, NJ - An 18-year-old city man has been arrested after he allegedly attempted to rob a person of a cellular phone, police said.

Yamil X. Gonzalez of Avenue C was taken into custody by police at 19th Street and Kennedy Boulevard at 6:42 p.m. on June 9. He allegedly tried to forcefully grab the phone from the individual's hands, according to police.

After being placed under arrest for robbery, a subsequent search allegedly revealed that Gonzalez had marijuana in his possession, police said.

Gonzalez was charged with robbery and possession of marijuana under 50 grams, according to police. His bail was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny.
