Police: Bayonne Man Arrested on December Robbery Charge


BAYONNE, N.J. — A local man was arrested on a robbery and assault charge last week following a more than monthlong investigation.

In a report released on Monday, the Bayonne Police Department said Carlos Rodriguez, 55, of Avenue E, was arrested on Thursday for an incident that occurred on December 1, 2017.

Police said Rodriguez assaulted and robbed a 59-year old man he had just met as they were walking together on Broadway.  The victim said Rodriguez “struck him in the face with a closed fist, stole his wallet and fled the scene,” according to the report.

Police charged Rodriguez with robbery, aggravated assault, theft of credit cards and fraudulent use of credit cards.
