The City of Bayonne Will Celebrate Polish Constitution Day on May 3 With Ceremony, Dinner, and Polka Concert

Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the City of Bayonne will observe Polish Constitution Day on Wednesday, May 3, with a ceremony, a dinner, and a polka concert.  Two-hundred-and-twenty-six years ago, Poland adopted the first written constitution in Europe, and enacted it on May 3, 1791. The Polish “Third of May” Constitution enshrined religious toleration at a time when that was rare in the world.  Mayor Davis said, “The City of Bayonne is proud to join with our Polish-American community to celebrate this great achievement of the Polish nation.  We welcome everyone in the community to join in remembering the Polish Constitution of 1791, a highlight in the history of freedom in the world.”

The day’s events on May 3 will begin with a Polish flag-raising ceremony at City Hall at 5:15 p.m.  The celebration will continue with a dinner and polka concert at the Polish-American Home at 27 West 22nd Street from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  The dinner will feature a Polish menu catered by Alex and Terry’s Deli. The $25 admission charge will cover the costs of dinner, drinks, dessert, and a concert by the Polka Brothers, a New York-based band that has appeared on The Chew and other nationally televised programs.  The Polka Brothers’ concerts bring together polka favorites, pop and rock gone polka, and original tunes.

To reserve your place at the dinner/concert event, please visit beof.org, or call Samantha Rojas at the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Foundation (BEOF) at 201-437-7222.
