BAYONNE, NJ – Trinitas Regional Medical Center is expanding into Bayonne.

According to a Trinitas press release, one of the largest behavioral health and psychiatry departments in the state will take over Bayonne Community Mental Health Center.

“This transition to ownership by Trinitas promises to be as seamless as possible,” Joseph M. Kadian, Psy.D., President and CEO of the CMHC, said. “There are no plans for any interruption or major changes in the name, services, personnel, hours, location or anything else that would impact the clientele or the community.”

As a group, the Department of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry of Trinitas Regional Medical Center sees more than 200,000 patients throughout the state, including inpatient and outpatient care for children, adolescents and adults, the press release said.

Trinitas will retain all medical records for current patients of Bayonne Community Mental Health Center. Trinitas officials also said  the center will continue to see all patients “regardless of their ability to pay for services.

“In line with Trinitas’ historically strong leadership role in mental health and substance abuse treatment, the Bayonne community can expect to receive the highest level of care it has come to know and rely on during the span of the Center’s 46 years of service,” Trinitas President and CEO Gary S. Horan said. “In the spirit of continued and future success, Trinitas plans to invest significant funding with the intention of upgrading important elements of administration, including electronic medical records, computerized registration and billing software, and high-speed telecommunications equipment.”

According to a press release, Bayonne Community Mental Health Clinic has been working with patients of all ages and diagnoses since 1972, including:  Child, Adolescent and Adult Outpatient Psychiatric Services, Child and Family Therapy Programs, Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Programs, Crime Victims’ Services, Partial Care Programs for Adults with Serious Mental Illness, Adult Outpatient Addictions Services and a variety of successful community awareness and outreach programs.

The center sees nearly 25,000 mental health patients each year, according to Trinitas. It also sits on various advisory boards and committees involving mental health throughout the state.

“We are pleased to have found a partner whose mission so closely aligns with ours,” Kadian said. “With their demonstrated history of providing accessible mental health and addictions services for close to 75 years, our Board is confident that our association with Trinitas will allow the Bayonne CMHC to continue to respond to the needs of our community, ensure our commitment to our clients, and enable the Center to continue the mission that it started 46 years ago without interruption.”

Questions pertaining to the transition can be directed to Dr. James McCreath at (908) 994-7060 or jmcreath@trinitas.org.
