Mayor Jimmy Davis announced that the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and its contractors have provided the City of Bayonne with updated information about construction in and around the Turnpike’s 14 A interchange.
In the toll plaza itself, renovation work continues at the existing toll plaza building.
On the ramps between the toll plaza and the Hudson County Extension, widening construction is complete. Final sign installation will take place this autumn. In the next few weeks, local street-level sidewalk and curb replacement will be performed on Avenue C in Bayonne and Garfield Avenue in Jersey City.
At the northern end of Avenue E by the new roundabout, new roadway construction and new bridge construction are continuing. During the week of October 16, asphalt paving will resume.
Bridge deck construction is moving ahead on the connector bridge from the toll plaza to Port Jersey Boulevard.
At the Route 440 and Pulaski Street intersection, jughandle ramp construction is continuing. Retaining wall construction is continuing on the new ramp to southbound Route 440. During the coming month, deep sewer construction will resume in the jughandle island. Bridge deck construction is taking place on the ramp bridge over Route 440. During the weekends of October 20-22 and October 27-29, there will be weekend lane closures on northbound and southbound Route 440 between Pulaski Street and Harbor Drive for asphalt work. The southbound work will take place October 20-22. The northbound work will take place October 27-29.
In the ramp area east of Route 440, new roadway construction is progressing on Chosin Few Way. Road construction will also continue on the new connector ramps. Bridge deck construction will continue over Port Jersey Boulevard.
