BAYONNE, NJ - Two years ago lifelong Bayonne resident Mechelle Taylor suffered congestive heart failure, a culprit in more than 600,000 deaths across the country each year.
Taylor was one of the lucky ones, given a second chance at life, an opportunity, she said, to “live every day to the fullest.”
On Friday, surrounded by family, friends, and several elected officials, including Mayor Jimmy Davis and Council President Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski, Taylor celebrated the opening of her new business, MeMee’s Lounge.
Located at 69 Kennedy Boulevard the remodeled lounge represents Taylor’s first foray into business ownership, but having spent much of her life working around bars she is no stranger to the hospitality industry.
Her keys to success, Taylor told TAPinto Bayonne, will be to “stay focused, stay away from negativity, and always have a plan.”
Asked about what patrons can expect when they visit, Taylor suggested that not only will they get a nice atmosphere, good drinks, and entertainment, they will also be “treated like family.”
While the lounge will be open seven days a week Taylor, saying they’ve already worked hard to clean up the corner where they are located, let it be known that her overall goal is to “be a good neighbor.”
“Mechelle is a homegrown entrepreneur,” Mayor Jimmy Davis said. “We are proud of her and grateful for her investment in Bayonne.”
