HUDSON COUNTY, NJ - There is “zero chance” that BMC Hospital LLC will become the operators of Bayonne Medical Center, according to officials at Hudson Regional Hospital who on Tuesday announced that they had reached an agreement with Avery Eisenreich to purchase the land that it sits on. The total $220 million deal also includes the purchase of the land on which Hoboken University Medical Center stands.
Also on Tuesday CarePoint Health and BMC Hospital LLC officials announced that they had finalized their deal for the latter to take over operations of the more than 100 year old local health care provider.
While CarePoint and BMC Hospital LLC officials continue to question the standing Eisenreich or HRH have in determining the future of healthcare operations, the two parties involved in the land transaction insisted, via a statement, that it is indeed their prerogative to chart the course forward.
“Control of the hospitals is with Hudson Regional,” they insisted, citing a contract to purchase and anticipated closing of the transaction in 90 days. The statement further claimed that they have “shared more information with the public within 48 hours of completing our transaction than BMC and CarePoint have, when they entered their agreement 60 days ago.”
HRH officials further recognized that in order to assume operations they’d have to reach an agreement with CarePoint while reasserting that it is the landlord, which they are aiming to become, who ultimately assigns use of the space, and that the New Jersey Department of Health must also approve all deals.
