BAYONNE, NJ - Thousands of Bayonne residents commemorated our nation’s independence with the city’s annual 4th of July celebration on Tuesday.

16th Street Park was filled with smiling faces as rides, games, music, and food were the preview to the huge fireworks display that set off over Newark Bay just after sunset.

City Council-President Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski welcomed the throngs of guests as the patriotic Belle Tones began their concert and kicked the gathering up a notch.

A representative from Bayonne OEM stated that the city had put forth a great effort from DPW crews to police officers, firefighters and EMS workers to ensure everyone’s safety and were repaid in kind as crowds were heavy but orderly throughout.

“Fun reigned tonight,” the official told TAPinto Bayonne.

Bayonne has long maintained its tradition of hosting its celebration on a day other than July 4 so that residents can also enjoy the famous Macy’s celebration hosted by New York City as well.
