BAYONNE, NJ - Irish eyes will be smiling up and down Broadway on Sunday, March 22 as Bayonne celebrates the 38th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Once again the parade will begin on Broadway and 5th Street, proceeding north to 39th Street where we turn west to Avenue C and end at the entrance of Stephen R. Gregg/Bayonne County Park.
Leading this year’s march as Grand Marshal will be Diane Liming.
With her paternal grandparents hailing from County Tipperary and her maternal grandparents boasting County Kilkenny lineage, Liming still bleeds green.
Currently the Hudson County Deputy Clerk, Liming went to St. Andrew’s Grammar School and St. Anthony’s High School before she attended Ramapo College. A 32-year veteran of Maidenform Liming retired from their in 2014 as the Vice President of Design Operations.
Married to the late Cal Liming for 27 years Diane is the mother of two sons, Calvin and Daniel.
With an apparent limitless amount of generosity of time and love of her ancestral homeland Liming is a member of the Bayonne St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, the Irish American League, and is Vice-Chair of the Bayonne Irish Festival.
Liming has been involved in St. Mary’s Pee Wee Basketball for more than 20 years and has served as a commissioner, referee and advisor. Diane is also Vice-Chair of the Bayonne Economic Opportunity Fund.
A Mass in will be held in honor of Liming and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee at St. Mary’s Church on Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
