BAYONNE, NJ - With ‘social distancing’ the new norm, at least for the foreseeable future, some local businesses are letting potential customers know that while a few additional precautions have been taken, they are very much open for business.

Included in these is local realtor Chris Piechocki of KW City Life. In an online conversation with TAPinto Bayonne (we’re also taking precautions), Chris said that he thought the market was starting to slow down as 2019 came to an end, but that it “went from 0-150 miles an hour right after the new year.”

“Despite the coronavirus fears, buyers are still out there duking it out in bidding wars to win a property,” he said, adding that most potential buyers believe prices in Bayonne will continue to increase as more developments, and the ferry to Manhattan, come online in the coming months.

With contracts paperless, Chris said, there is no longer a need to meet in person for closings, and, if it really became necessary, a realtor could even do a showing via FaceTime to ease a client’s concern. But, he concluded, that hasn’t become necessary.

When considering that their eventual purchase is one that will impact their finances for 30 years Chris believes that those in the market to buy “would rather be fearless avengers and take advantage while other buyers hide in fear, It just may be an opportunity they will never see again in their lives.”

While asking customers to practice safe hygiene before entering, the alway energetic Carissa Golomb of Reeses Hair Pieces is also keeping her doors open, including by hosting an event for a limited number of participants on Sunday.

However, Carissa offered, if someone is feeling ill but still needs a gift for a special someone, she will ship an order directly, or even drop it free herself.

“I can even do FaceTime shopping with you so you don’t have to leave you couch,” she said in a Facebook post, concluding with an optimistic “let’s all help each other out to get through this!”
