BAYONNE, NJ- While consumers continue to flock to big box retailers, or shop online, thinking that’s where the best deals are, one Bayonne business owner wants local residents to know that when it comes to tools and materials necessary for home repair and maintenance shopping local is still best on the wallet.
”We are 100 percent competitive,” Jessica Hellinger, who, along with her husband Sami, owns the new Avenue C Hardware, told TAPinto Bayonne. In addition to great prices, and a selection that includes anything necessary for heating, electrical, plumbing, and more, Hellinger promised customers will be treated honestly.
“We won’t sell you material you don’t need,” she promised.
The new business, though open for almost a year, hosted a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Thursday, a celebration of their early success and a tribute to their “wonderful customers.”
While the space, which stood vacant for nearly 12 years, was previously being used as a staging location for the entrepreneur’s online supply business, they decided to open the store up to walk ins, and now are looking forward to growing their customer base by becoming the go to spot for local contractors.
Hellinger also wants to let women know they are welcome, and that she’ll personally provide assistance and guidance on how to tackle various projects.
City officials have been very supportive of the new venture, Hellinger said, a point punctuated by the presence of Mayor Jimmy Davis, three members of the Bayonne City Council, and the Bayonne UEZ team.
“They have been great,” Hellinger offered. “There was always someone to take us by the hand.
In a nod to the products filling the shelves behind him Davis, just after cutting the ceremonial red ribbon, said that “we want to make sure Bayonne residents have all the tools they need to succeed, thanks to Jessica and Sami, now they definitely will!”
