BAYONNE, NJ - The battle for control of the Bayonne Medical Center continued Thursday with the filing of a temporary restraining order (TRO) by CarePoint Health and BMC Hospital LLC demanding that Hudson Regional Hospital (HRH) stop what they called interference in the deal between the two parties.

Just hours after CarePoint Health and BMC Hospital LLC officials announced that they had finalized their deal for the latter to take over operations of the more than 100 year old local health care provider, HRH announced that they had reached an agreement with Avery Eisenreich to purchase the land that it sits on. The total $220 million deal also includes the purchase of the land on which Hoboken University Medical Center stands.

HRH further stated that as they’d be the landlords of the building there is “zero chance” that BMC Hospital LLC will become the operators of Bayonne Medical Center.

Referencing their own discussions with HRH regarding their interest in taking over operations at Bayonne Medical Center wherein both parties signed a confidentiality agreement, the TRO alleges that through their public statements the Secaucus based suitor is “interfering” with CarePoint and BMC’s arrangement, one that both parties, they say, “remain committed to seeing through to end for the benefit of the entire Bayonne community.”

According to CarePoint, HRH knew that they had lost out to BMC in their effort to purchase the operations and, utilizing confidential information they obtained through their negotiations, tried to “end run” the BMC deal.

In their own statement following the filing of the TRO, HRH officials said that they are “baffled” by the allegations calling them a “desperate attempt to deviate the public’s attention to the fact that we are a solid solution to the saga” regarding efforts to maintain a hospital in Bayonne.
