BAYONNE, NJ- There should be cake and candles, balloons and presents in the O’Donnell family Bayonne home today.
Instead, on what would have been little Bridget’s 8th birthday, her mother, Pam, is hard at work preparing for a Christmas Party for the Catch You Later Foundation, a non-profit organization set up after the little girl, known affectionately as “Bridie Bear” was tragically killed along with her father, Tim, in a car crash at the New Jersey Turnpike 14C toll plaza.
Saying that all most people know of such tragedies is what they “read in the headlines,” Pam has, in the nearly three years since the tragedy, taken to speaking at high schools, companies, and other organizations across the state to tell listeners about the struggles such as dealing with holidays, birthdays, and first days of schools after the loss of a loved one, or “what happens after.”
With an overarching mission of “making something good out of something bad,” Pam said that when the foundation gives out its third set of scholarships in 2019 the amount donated to local high school students will stand at $16,000.
The Catch You Later Foundation Party With Santa will be held on Friday, December 14 at the Bayonne Museum from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. With tickets just $10 the event will feature kid friendly food & refreshments, holiday books & crayons, dancing, and pictures with Santa. There will also be a number of raffles and opportunities to support the 2019 scholarship fund in honor of Tim and Bridget.
