BAYONNE, NJ - Motorists are being advised to continue avoiding several blocks of JFK Blvd after a tractor-trailer traveling south on the road caught some utility wires and set off a chain reaction that left a swath of destruction near 28th Street on Wednesday.

According to Bayonne OEM Coordinator Junior Ferrante the accident came at approximately 11:45 p.m.

Three telephone poles were snapped in half and dozens of power, phone, and cable lines were taken down in the vicinity causing power outages throughout the area, Ferrante told TAPinto Bayonne.

As of the time of publication JFK Blvd, as well as several side streets, remain closed while utility companies work to make the necessary repairs. Ferrante added that they expect to have the roadway opened for Friday’s morning commute.
