BAYONNE, NJ - An effort to reduce the parking crunch in Bayonne is set to begin Monday as the Parking Utility launched the application process for permits to leave cars in front of private driveways.
According to an ordinance passed by the Bayonne City Council in 2019, the new regulation will apply only when both the motor vehicle and the driveway are owned by members of the same household. The owner of the driveway may, under certain circumstances authorize a vehicle owner to park in front of their driveway with the proper permit.
Enforcement of the new parking rule will begin on Friday, May 1, 2020.
The permits are free, and up to three can be obtained by the owner of any private driveway.
Permits may be obtained by visiting the Parking Utility in Room 13 of Vayonne City Hall or by visiting them online.
