BAYONNE, NJ - Following an unprecedented amount of snow days, coupled with the emergency days off during the district-wide shooting threat, the Bayonne Board of Education announced on Thursday that the school year will be extended.
According to a post to the district's Facebook page, the school year will now end on June 25, provided there are no other closings.
Additionally, school will be in an abbreviated session on May 25, the Friday before Memorial Day. This has traditionally been a day off for staff and students.
The changes were made to accommodate the state Department of Education's 180-day calendar requirement.
