JERSEY CITY, NJ. - Bayonne native Raine Cusegilo has been named as a special adviser to Hudson County Democratic Organization (HCDO) Chairwoman Amy DeGise.
According to a statement released on Monday by the HCDO, Cusegilo, who also serves as Chief of Staff to Assemblyman Nicholas Chiaravalloti, will assume the position later this month and work alongside Julietta Vogt who has been tapped to oversee the operations of the organization as the Director of Planning and Events.
Saying that the organization has taken extraordinary steps to help push the Party forward and build a more diverse and unified organization, DeGise said success has come “working together to defend the fundamental principles of the Democratic Party.”
“But we still have so much more to do,” DeGise added. “Raine and Julietta each bring a unique set of skills and talents to our organization and I’m looking forward to working with them to continue the progress we have made and promote progressive legislation and elevate more women in politics.”
Asked about the new role Cusegilo told TAPinto Bayonne that she is excited to take on the additional position and “grow from the new experiences.”
The now seasoned operative reflected that she started her career in politics as a volunteer on Chiaravalloti’s 2015 campaign, later joining his staff as a legislative aide, and eventually being promoted to her current position. Cusegilo is also credited with playing key roles in the reelection campaigns of Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis and U.S. Senator Robert Menendez.
“I am very excited to have joined such an amazing team of women,” Cusegilo said, adding that she looks forward to expanding on the “great work” of her predecessor and the woman she has considered a role model since she was her history teacher, to “establish a pragmatic progressive course” for the HCDO.
