BAYONNE, NJ- This year's General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, and Bayonne voters will have the chance to select candidates seeking seats at the local, county, and state levels. In preparation for that TAPinto Bayonne's editor, Steve Lenox, is once again sharing the publication’s election coverage guidelines.
As a hyperlocal media outlet it is not up to us to share our opinions or to attempt to sway the voters in any way, our efforts will simply be towards providing information so that each one can enter the voting booth with as much accurate information as possible.
In keeping with this, we intend on informing all candidates of the opportunities available to them to communicate with voters through our website.
We encourage candidates to let us know of any event they are hosting or participating in. Additionally, in the coming months we will outline a series of topics that the candidates will be invited to submit statements on, as well as the dates any pieces they wish to submit will be due.
Candidates will also be alerted to our advertising guidelines, which includes offering each the same opportunity to place advertisements on our website, with the same rates applying to each one of them. We believe in fairness, no candidate will receive more favorable rates or, as will be the case with candidate statements, placement, than any of their opponents.
TAPinto Bayonne is also proud to provide a forum, through our “submit content” feature, for readers to share their views on issues that they believe are important. Our rules related to these are simple, and follow our belief that integrity is key. We ask simply that readers offer content that is factual and helps to advance positive dialogue.
Finally, TAPinto Bayonne will accept no additional campaign related material after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1.
As we have done many times in the past months, TAPinto Bayonne once again shares our gratitude with the readers that have made us a trusted source for local news coverage.
If you have any additional questions about our election guidelines, or any other matter, please do not hesitate to email Steve Lenox, Editor, TAPinto Bayonne.
