JERSEY CITY, NJ — This Thursday, May 14, the Hudson County Chamber Foundation Inc. (HCCF) kicks off its second annual #HudsonGives campaign—a 24-hour online fundraiser for nonprofits serving the local community. With an unprecedented need for community support, HCCF announced that 75 non-profit organizations are participating in this year's campaign, which is part of HCCF’s broader mission to build the capacity of non-profit organizations and small businesses across the Hudson County through marketing and technology solutions.

“We’re thrilled that non-profit organizations and sponsors alike see #HudsonGives as a time and cost-effective solution for reaching donors and raising funds,” said Maria Nieves, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce. “The non-profit sector employs thousands of employees and generates more than $3B for Hudson County – it’s a crucial economic driver. While supporting local organizations has always been a priority, donating to our local organizations has never been more necessary than it is now.”

Using the #HudsonGives platform, participating non-profit organizations can raise awareness and funds online throughout campaign, via sharable videos and outreach that illustrates their mission-critical work. The www.HudsonGives.org website then encourages visitors to make donations and share those stories on social media.

Just last year, the inaugural #HudsonGives campaign raised $127,097—surpassing all expectations. This year, the organization expects to raise upwards of $200,000 on behalf of a full spectrum of nonprofits countywide—from smaller arts organizations who are feeling the pinch of the pandemic, to larger organizations that are witnessing an unprecedented demand for healthcare and human services.

“The COVID-19 pandemic forced nonprofit organizations to cancel spring fundraisers, making this year’s #HudsonGives especially crucial to the sustainability of smaller organizations, who rely on fundraisers to raise operating costs,” added Emory A. Edwards, Director of Corporate, Foundation and Government Relations, Office of Advancement and External Affairs, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Hudson County Chamber Foundation. “We are grateful to have this fundraising vehicle and are excited to be working with other nonprofit organizations in the area to raise awareness for the important work being done in Hudson County.”

HCCF builds capacity for Hudson County’s nonprofit organizations to raise money from this campaign through marketing and sponsorship of the platform and prize pool. All registered organizations received toolkits to maximize the benefit of the county-wide giving day. Earlier this year, the HCCF provided in-person and online training to maximize fundraising efforts. Major Sponsors for this year’s #HudsonGives campaign include DTCC and the Provident Bank Foundation.
