TRENTON, NJ - Bayonne Assemblyman Nicholas Chiaravalloti will serve as Majority Whip for the current session of the New Jersey Legislature, Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin and Majority Leader Louis Greenwald announced Wednesday.
“While we are committed to work to get what we’re passionate about such as funding for transportation and education, and latterly, spending on hospitals, my job will be to assist members and to become more active in day to day legislation, and to help the speaking with our agenda for the upcoming session,” Chiaravalloti told TAPinto Bayonne.
The appointment comes after Coughlin decided to increase the Leadership Team in the Assembly Majority from six to eight members “to incorporate more members to help in creating a more member-centric decision-making process.” The additional members will help to provide open communications within the body to help craft “thoughtful and responsible legislation that makes New Jersey a more competitive place in which to live and raise a family,” he added.
Chiaravalloti, who also serves as vice-chair of the Assembly Human Services Committee and is a member of both the Commerce and Judiciary Committees thanked Coughlin for the opportunity and said that he is “confident that working together with my colleagues, we will improve the operation in the Assembly and continue making a positive impact on the people of New Jersey.”
“I know it sounds like a cliché, but our job will be to make New Jersey better and fairer.”
