JERSEY CITY, NJ - Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez is crediting members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit for the investigation and arrest of a 28-year-old Bayonne man in connection with an alleged sexual assault that reportedly occurred on Saturday, June 29, at an unknown location in Jersey City. 

The Jersey City Police Department also assisted in the investigation that led to the identification of Luis Burgos-Santos as the suspect.

 According to a statement by Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the incident was reported at approximately 8:50 a.m. on June 29. The victim reported that she was sexually assaulted earlier that morning after accepting a ride from an unknown male as she traveled from Hoboken to her residence in Jersey City.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the alleged sexual assault occurred on 16th Street in Jersey City and that the driver of the involved vehicle was said to be Burgos-Santos. 

The suspect was charged with two counts of Sexual Assault and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny to await his first appearance which is scheduled for Monday.
