BAYONNE, NJ - A 41-year-old Bayonne man was arrested and charged with Theft by Deception after two would-be tenants reported paying the suspect more than $1000 each to sublet an apartment he advertised.

According to Captain Eric Amato, the investigation into the incidents begain on February 10 when the victims reported that they each paid Fils Kendamos the money at different times to enter into a lease on an apartment Kendamos had advertised that he was subletting.

When they attempted to contact Kendamos by phone to schedule a move-in date, a report said, they realized the number was to the landlord who had no knowledge of the subletting and all attempts to contact Kendamos were unsuccessful.
