BAYONNE, NJ- A Bayonne man was arrested Friday after attempting to punch a police officer on 21st Street and Broadway.

According to Lt. Eric Amato, Terrence Sheppard, 42, created a disturbance inside Jerry’s Drugs when employees, who recognized him as a suspect in a past robbery, refused to let him use a telephone.

After a verbal confrontation with the employees, the report continues, Sheppard exited the store before police arrived. Upon being confronted Sheppard verbally threatened to harm the officers if they came closer, before throwing a punch, and missing.

Sheppard was pepper-sprayed by an officer, arrested, and transported to the Hudson County Jail.
